Hdtv channels

In two years all of the channels we are now receiving are going to be converted to HDTV channels. This means that unless you have an HDTV or a converter box you will have to invest in some type of new equipment to help you get the latest in television. Without the converter or the HDTV you will not be able to receive a signal and therefore you will not have television. Some of the HDTV channels that exist at the moment include HDTV magazine, Discovery, ABC, CBS, NBC, HBO, Showtime, and at least 100 more. Comcast is the leader at the moment in HDTV channels. They currently have 100 channels that are HDTV, and project to have 800 in the near future.

What makes up an HDTV channel though? Why are we so hot to have this latest technology? When speaking about HDTV channels we are talking about the broadcast strength of the channel. HDTV or high definition television offers you an increased resolution for the picture. This means that the resolution, which is made up of pixels has more pixels per square inch of the screen than a regular television. Without the high definition television you will see a grainier picture. You have probably noticed on the older televisions how the pixels were more prominent and the picture seemed a little fuzzy to you. With HDTV channels you are getting the signal for more pixels per square inch. This means that you will have a clearer or higher resolution picture coming over the cable.

You should also realize with the HDTV channels that you either get a signal or you get a black screen. If you do not have the capability for the HDTV channels you will not be able to receive the actual picture from the signal. Of course right now you have the choice between HDTV channels and regular broadcast. In the next two years the broadcasting companies are going to change to an all HDTV channels broadcast, which means without a converter you will not have the HDTV channels and therefore no television. You can also upgrade your television to have built in HDTV capabilities. For now you are safe with your television and the regular broadcasts. For those who have already upgraded you can purchase the HDTV channels from your cable or satellite company to ensure you have the highest quality pictures when watching TV.
