There are some people that refer to alternative rock as alternative music or just plain old alternative. This genre of music is known primarily in the United Kingdom as Indie. When it comes to the definition or meaning of alternative rock you will find that the terms are used to describe an actual genre of rock music that has emerged in the nineteen eighties and has actually became widely popular when it comes to the nineteen nineties.
