Teen suicide statistics

Teen suicide statistics reveal that the biggest concern is when an attempted suicide is made. That is the biggest cry for help and under no circumstances should it be ignored. Even if it is done as “a joke” there is something terribly wrong and immediate action is to be taken. It is common for teenagers to think about death as their whole life changes when they become a teenager. They discover things, experiment and have their hearts broken. Also a lot of the time teenagers are misguided and this can result in suicide attempts.

Teen suicide statistics can be discovered but not when it comes to attempted suicides as this is not always reported. Although, it is said that for every 25 attempted suicides at least one is carried through. So in other words, every time you hear of a suicide that has taken place, at least another 25 people have attempted to kill themselves. This is just the incidents that are reported and as attempted suicides are not always reported, that number can be even higher. By dealing with the problem of a suicide attempt you can illuminate an actual suicide.

Teen suicide statistics show that more male than female teens commit suicide and more females will attempt suicide but not actually follow through with it as it is just their way of crying out for help. This is because males are more likely to commit suicide and will not ask for any professional help or confess their decision.

Some of the warning signs that were shown on the teen suicide statistics are:
* Change in behavior, aggressiveness, violence or the complete opposite
* Disinterest in things they used to love, sports, hobbies, activities etc
* Severe depression
* Alcohol and drug abuse
* Any sign of self-mutilation
* Disposing of favorite belongings and possessions
* Suddenly happy after being depressed
* Unusual mood swings
* Change in eating and sleeping habits
* Saying things like “I wish I could die”, “I am worthless”, ” I don’t deserve to live”

Teen males are more likely to commit suicide using a firearm while females will rather overdose on pills. As almost half the suicides committed are done with a gun, it is vitally important that all firearms are locked away in a safe and the key is either kept with you at all times or locked away where no one can find it. The ammunition should also be separate and the gun should not be loaded.
