Mantras are restricted to esoteric where the objective is only to attain enlightenment. Whereas there is another ritual which is similar to mantra and it is known as Dharani. It is presented in speech form and used for esoteric as well as exoteric which does not require enlightenment. Mantras are usually short whereas dharanis are long and it is believed that dharanis also have spiritual power like mantras.
In certain regions of Tibet the mantras are carved in stones and other forms. This is done because Buddhists believe that seeing the mantra carvings will produce an effect similar to that of chanting. In order to look at colonial Latin America, we need to look at the detailed meaning of a colony and understand what exactly a colony is. Every one of us must have read about colonies at least twice in his present lifetime. We do have a general concept about the colonies but the earlier concept which existed a century ago was different from our present concept. Today colony is referred to that part of land which you own in some other country or state overseas. Today many superpowers or the leading countries of the world have colonies overseas in other countries or regions. Most of these or majority of these are the islands. But if we scroll back to the past, the definition of a colony was never this good. Colony in those times was known as that country, whose people were unable to enjoy complete freedom and who was under the rule of another country from overseas. In late 18th century, there were many colonies in what is now known as America. Most of the colonies were under the rule of British. These colonies included large parts of America or all of the America. In mid of the 18th century an anti colonial revolution started from the Central America which quickly spread throughout the rest of America. This was more like a civil war. The people stood against the rulers for freedom.

Like other states and regions of America Latin America has an important historical significance in regards to the colonialization. Latin America was under the colonial rule till 1860’s. The colonies in America were government by the French and the Spanish. These were the first to get to the Latin America in order to expand their business after Columbus discovered America. There were numerous colonies in Latin America. Spanish were the main rulers at Latin America. It is due to their presence that we see white people in Latin America as well. Others included the French mostly. There were large numbers of Indians in Latin America. They were looked down upon by the Spanish. Pope Paul III ordered the Spanish that Indians have souls too and it was not until then that the Spanish had given Indians a respectable status in the society. This was a great achievement in the colonial period of Latin America. Another very important event was the formation of university of Mexico. This is just few of what Latin America used to be.

This was mainly due to the low level of education and less awareness among people. Since it was the industrial era, therefore most people were the normal laborers. Domestic violence is basically common among the low earning families and person who have never been to any educational institution. Domestic violence is a vast field itself and it includes a lot of areas which needs to be studied in detail. There are many kinds of domestic violence. Domestic violence can occur in various situations. In order to know the exact meaning of domestic violence, we need to go in depth and get the meanings. Christmas is the biggest and the most enthusiastic eve of the Christian calendar. In Christianity this is regarded a s a very holy day and is celebrated with zeal and joy. This is the day when Jesus was born. Although the Old Testament does not provide the fixed date when Jesus was born but till to date no one knows how come 25th December is regarded as the birth date of Jesus. Christmas is the event that children wait for, throughout the year. When Christmas arrives nearby, preparations for the celebrations start more then 20 days before Christmas actually arrives. Preparations include the decorations of roads, streets and buildings. Decorations include the lighting and other beauty enhancing features. Children expect gifts from their parents. They keep waiting for the Christmas night. For whole year the children wait for this night. This is the night when Santa Claus will give the children gifts. Santa Claus is an imaginary character who gives children gifts on the Christmas Eve. Christmas is usually celebrated in extreme winters. This is the time when heavy snow fall occurs and everything is frosty. Christmas in Latin America happens to be during extreme summers. That is the time when southern parts especially Brazil are experiencing summers. There are different kinds of Christmas gifts that are exchanged between the people. The children play games. The most famous one is the secret friend. This is played between a group of children or adults. Usually people studying in the same class put in chits with their secret friends name and they have to buy gifts for this person ion the Christmas Eve. Gifts vary from person to person. Role of religion in latin america

Religion plays an enormous role in every aspect of Latin American life. From the time of birth Latin Americans are put through ritual at every important point in life. The magnificent history of religion can be seen by viewing the beautiful, well preserved churches that line the city streets in many Latin American countries. How does religion guide the development of Latin America and does it play a role in the governments the rule Latin American countries?

Religious identity is a big part of any person’s life. It forms and shapes you as a person, good and bad. The power of religion over it’s followers is a power unlike anything known to us. If there is a perceived threat against a person’s faith there can be a backlash that is terrifying. We have all seen through current events the rage created when people feel their faith is under attack. Therefore it would be difficult to imagine peace in Latin America if say Roman Catholics felt persecuted. The positive role of religion in Latin America often leads, to the dismay of democracy advocates, to Socialist leanings in the elected officials of Latin America. The people realize that to truly embrace the teachings of their faith they must take care of each other and the least among them. This has led to the elections of less than desirable leaders like Hugo Chavez and Evo Morales. Less desirable by the US government standard that is. Hopefully the people will find the right balance between empowering themselves, religion and following the teachings of their spiritual leaders.

Roman Catholicism is the dominant religion in Latin American and there is no sign of that changing soon. The fear of some is the active program by Christians in the US to convert Latin Americans with the promise of increase prosperity will alter the very cultures of Latin America. Most of us realize that will not happen in our lifetimes but Protestants are on the rise inside Latin American with no end in sight. The best we can all hope for is that Latin American countries emphasize religious freedom and avoid the trappings of other poor countries which destroy each other over religious differences.

Currently, the role of religion in Latin America is just another piece of a diverse culture and a spiritual people that honor life, each other and want the best for the generations that follow them.
